Victoria.NET Dev SIG incorporated into Victoria.NET:
Two of Melbourne's most prominent Microsoft.NET user groups have
announced a merger under the banner of Victoria.NET.
The Australian Developers .NETwork (AusDev.NET) and the Melbourne
.NET User Group (MDNUG.org) will merge and will be known as the
Victoria .NET Dev SIG. The Dev SIG will be a sub-committee
of Victoria.NET. Registration with the user group is open to any
individual whether or not their company is a member of Victoria.NET.
Victoria.NET is an ICT (information and communication
technology) industry initiative for the Victorian.NET and
XML web services community. It was set up jointly by the
Victorian government and Microsoft.
The Victoria.NET ICT industry cluster aims to establish Victoria's
reputation as a global hub for .NET development, as
well as promote awareness of the capabilities of
the .NET framework.
"The merger will provide our user group with resource and an
a profile that we have not previously had." said Mark
Jarzebowski - AusDev.NET
".Net has helped to blur the lines between languages thus bringing the
2 groups in Melbourne together so a merger under victoria .net makes sense"
said Bill Chesnut Coordinator of the Melbourne .NET User Group.
"The user group will add a whole new dimension to Victoria.NET, providing
a technical aspect to complement our extensive business development program,"
said Dr. Peter Stanski management committee member of Victoria.NET
The Australian Developers .NETwork is one of the oldest running
Microsoft User groups in Australia. It was previously the Australian Visual
Basic User Group and has been running continuously since 1988. Membership
consists mainly of professional .NET developers.
The Melbourne .NET user group was founded in 2001 to foster a deep
technical interest in Microsoft .NET technology.
